Our Process
Consultation
We begin with a complimentary consultation and assessment to determine learning needs. We get to know our students on a personal level, discover how they learn best, create a detailed report, and set up a game plan for tutoring.
Frequent Adjustments
As each student progresses, we update our data to better customize their learning plan. {SET} Math Prep's teaching-learning process is malleable, and as we learn more about how each student learns, we make adjustments to how we teach.
At Home Practice
Following each session, {SET} students are assigned relevant homework and review content if necessary. Since we believe optimal learning comes from customization, we regularly create new worksheeets and study materials tailored to our students' individual needs.
Meeting
We meet with our students at a frequency that works best for them. Our sessions consist of exploring new mathematical concepts visually and in writing, working through practice problems to hone skills, and discussion of test-taking strategies and the mental approach to testing.
Customization
All work is custom. While we employ a wide array of resources such as past exams, videos, worksheets, and more; we don't prescribe a general plan for individual students. Curriculums are molded to fit individual needs. Appropriate time is taken to understand and strengthen weaknesses while best utilizing student strengths.
Strategies
{SET} students benefit from additional advising on test-specific strategies such as working backward from answer choices, time management, how to know when it's time to move on from a question, and which questions to prioritize when checking over work.
Keeping Parents In the Loop
We believe parents play a pivotal role in their children’s educational success! Following each session, we provide parent/guardian updates including content and strategies covered, assigned homework and studying, student progress and understanding, and what work may still need to be done. Parents (and students alike) are encouraged to reach out between sessions with any questions.
Consistent Communication
Learning doesn’t end when tutoring sessions end, and our support doesn't end there either! We encourage students to contact us between sessions with additional questions or for clarification. We never hesitate to help students over email or brief phone calls should they have questions. We can even assign more customized practice between sessions if necessary. This additional support is included.
